Trims, Body Styles, and Powertrains

Buyers of the 2023 Camaro will choose from eight trims: 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1. All versions are available as a hardtop coupe, while all but the base 1LS can be ordered in convertible form with a power top.

Chevy offers numerous powerplant options, starting with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (275 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque). It’s the base engine for the 1LS and 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. The 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT can be upgraded with a 3.6-liter V6 producing 335 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard power for the LT1 and SS comes from a 6.2-liter V8 (455 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque), while the over-the-top ZL1 gets a supercharged version of this V8 that cranks out 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

Rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission are the standard setup for every trim. An eight-speed automatic tranny is offered with the base four-cylinder engine, while the larger engines are eligible for a ten-speed automatic. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the base powerplant with the manual gearbox is 19 mpg around town and 28 mpg on the open road. This changes to 22 city/30 highway for the automatic. The V6’s fuel economy is 16 city/26 highway for the manual and 18 city/29 highway for the automatic. The V8 with a manual transmission in the LT1 and SS is rated for 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway (highway fuel economy changes to 26 mpg with the automatic gearbox). Fuel economy for the ZL1 is rated for 14 city/20 highway with the manual and 13 city/21 highway with the automatic.

Standard Features

Standard equipment for the LS includes single-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-button start, power side mirrors, a color driver-information display, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Seating for the LS reflects fabric upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat with a power recline feature, and a folding rear bench seat. The 1LT adds a six-way power front passenger seat.

Upgrades to the 2LT incorporate heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The 3LT adds a heated steering wheel, a driver’s position memory system, a head-up display, adjustable ambient cabin lighting, heated power side mirrors with an auto-dimming feature, a digital rearview mirror, and an 8-inch driver information display. The V8-powered LT1 reverts back to the 1LT equipment level, but it gets 20-inch aluminum wheels.

Chevy gives the 1SS some nice extras: enhanced cooling for the engine and the rear differential, dark-tinted tail lights, run-flat summer tires, a rear spoiler, and an 8-inch driver information display. The 2SS builds on the 1SS and comes with most of the 3LT’s features, including leather-trimmed seating. Standing at the top of the Camaro lineup is the ZL1, which gets magnetic ride control, a performance-tuned suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, a dual-mode exhaust, an exclusive rear spoiler, Recaro front bucket seats, alloy sport pedals, and a microfiber-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Safety Technology

Some standard advanced driver-assist technologies (forward collision alert, lane change alert with blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert) are installed on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1. All Camaro trims come with a multi-airbag occupant protection system, anti-lock brakes, and a rearview monitor. Rear parking sensors are optional on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 7-inch touchscreen is the standard infotainment system for the 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LT1. An 8-inch high-definition touchscreen is included with the 3LT, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1 and is available on the other trims except for the 1LS. Navigation is optional on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1. Additional standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and multiple USB ports. A six-speaker audio system comes with the 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, LT1, and 1SS. A Bose premium sound system (with nine speakers for the coupe and seven speakers for the convertible) is standard in the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 and is optional for the 1LT, 2LT, and LT1.

All trims have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot, OnStar, and Chevrolet connected services (for vehicle monitoring and maintenance reminders). The 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1 are available with a performance data recorder and video recorder – accessories embraced by those who push their Camaros to the limit on the track. The 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 get wireless device charging.
