You don’t see a lot of mid-engined production cars out there, but the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is one of the most popular. The trim levels for this rear-drive two-seater are 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT, with both convertible and coupe body styles offered. A 6.2-liter V8 engine making 490 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque roars under the hood, but the optional Z51 Performance Package will boost output to 495 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The transmission is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Stingray goes from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds with the Z51 Performance Package and boasts a top track speed of 194 mph. The EPA has estimated its fuel economy at 16 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road.
The 1LT is built for speed with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on 19-inch silver-tone wheels and power-adjustable GT1 sport seats. It also gets heated side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, a 12-inch color driver information display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seats with perforated panels. The 2LT’s seats are both heated and ventilated (with position memory), and the additional comfort and convenience features are a heated steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charging pad, power-folding and driver’s-side auto-dimming side mirrors, a head-up display, a performance data display and video recorder, and a universal home remote. The 3LT brings on the leather on the upper instrument panel, door trim panels, and console cover as well as the race-ready GT2 bucket seats, which show off Nappa leather with sueded microfiber inserts.
As a two-seat sports car, the 2023 Corvette Stingray concentrates on performance, with less emphasis on driver-assist technology. The base 1LT is equipped with rear parking sensors and a high-definition rearview monitor. The 2LT and 3LT add a high-definition front monitor and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
Both occupants of the 2023 Corvette Stingray can stay connected, informed, and entertained using the multimedia system, which can be managed using voice recognition or the 8-inch touchscreen. The system has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Bose audio system with 10 speakers in the 1LT and 14 speakers in the 2LT and 3LT. Those higher two trims also upgrade the voice recognition system and add navigation.
Chevrolet allows buyers plenty of opportunity to equip the ’23 Corvette Stingray to their liking. As mentioned in the introduction, the Z51 Performance Package provides a performance boost of 5 hp and 5 lb.-ft. of torque, but it also adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, a special front splitter and rear spoiler, a performance suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a heavy-duty cooling system. Those aiming for a colorful Corvette can elect orange or yellow seatbelts and yellow or red brake calipers. There are also options for a carbon-fiber roof, a performance exhaust system, a performance traction management system and suspension, a front lift system with memory to increase road clearance, and Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a sophisticated damping system that responds to road conditions continuously and automatically, giving the Stingray a good daily-driver ride quality.
The 3LT is eligible for a new 70th Anniversary Edition appearance package. It makes its mark with a Nappa leather interior in Ceramic White with red contrast stitching, seatbelts in Torch Red, red brake calipers, commemorative wheel caps, dark gray 20-inch wheels with sporty red striping, a sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel, 70th Anniversary badging, a unique VIN sequence number, and black or gray racing stripes, depending on the paint color chosen (White Pearl Metallic Tricoat or Carbon Flash Metallic). But the most unique component of the 70th Anniversary Edition is a two-piece set of leather luggage with red stitching and the 70th Anniversary logo.
