Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

Chevy offers the 2023 Traverse in six trims: LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. Under the hood of each is a 3.6-liter V6 engine (310 hp and 266 lb.-ft. of torque) linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional. As mentioned, the Traverse also boasts a towing capacity of 5,000 lb., making it perfect for hauling a boat, snowmobiles, or other equipment.

Trim-Specific Amenities

The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse is set up nicely with premium features. The second- and third-row bench seats in the LS allow it to accommodate eight. Its standard equipment list contains LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors, keyless entry/ignition, three zones of automatic climate control, six USB ports (two in each row), a 60/40-split third-row seat, and a hidden cargo-area storage compartment. In lieu of the second-row bench the LT Cloth has a pair of captain’s chairs, dropping the passenger capacity to seven. Its other features are roof rails, side mirrors set up with turn-signal indicators, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and wireless phone charging. The LT Leather is upgraded with – you guessed it – leather upholstery, plus a power liftgate, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, and a universal home remote.

The sportier RS is differentiated by black exterior accents and larger wheels. It also gets a rear camera mirror washer, a 120-volt power outlet, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Premier receives chrome exterior accents, a hands-free liftgate, power-folding side mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming, heated rear outboard seats, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, position memory settings (for the side mirrors, driver’s seat, and steering wheel), perforated leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats. The range-topping High Country gains a dual-panel sunroof and a power-folding third-row seat. It’s worth mentioning that several of those deluxe items are available for the lower trims as options.

Active Safety Features

Several advanced driving aids are issued in the ’23 Traverse. The LS comes with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. The LT Cloth and LT Leather are appointed with lane change alert, side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The RS gets adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera, and rear pedestrian alert. The Premier and High Country top off with a safety alert seat, which pulses in the direction of a potential accident so you can alter your course. Many of those more sophisticated safety technologies can be ordered on the less expensive trims.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The LS and LT Cloth are supplied with the basic Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System consisting of a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, voice recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The LT Leather has the more advanced Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen and a premium 10-speaker Bose audio system. The RS, Premier, and High Country add integrated navigation.
