The final year of the Camaro brings a choice of seven trims – 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1 – each of which comes as either a hardtop coupe or convertible body style. Power for the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT comes from a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 335 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6.2-liter V8 producing 455 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque sits under the hood of the LT1, 1SS, and 2SS. The king-of-the-hill ZL1 gets a supercharged version of this V8, which churns out 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Every Camaro is rear-wheel drive, which is managed by a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an available ten-speed automatic transmission.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the V6 Camaro ranges from 16 to 18 mpg around town and 26 to 29 mpg on the highway, depending on the transmission. The LT1, 1SS, and 2SS with the manual transmission should return 16 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road; this changes to 26 mpg on the highway with the automatic transmission. The city fuel economy for the ZL1 is estimated at 13 city/20 highway for the manual and 14 city/21 highway for the automatic.
Chevy equips the 1LT with fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger seat, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, power side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, two USB ports, a folding rear bench seat, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The significant upgrades to the 2LT are leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. There are even more premium touches with the 3LT, including a heated steering wheel, a driver’s position memory system, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, ambient cabin lighting, heated power side mirrors with an auto-dimming feature, wireless device charging, and an 8-inch driver information display.
The LT1 is focused on pure V8 power. Its standard equipment list reflects that of the 1LT, but with 20-inch aluminum wheels with all-season run-flat tires. The 1SS goes a step further with summer performance run-flat tires, Brembo front and rear performance disc brakes, LED headlamps with LED signature lighting accents, and an 8-inch driver information display. Comfort and convenience reach the next level with the 2SS, which combines V8 power with the features of the 3LT. The most powerful production Camaro ever wears the ZL1 badge. This potent Chevy starts with the 2SS’s equipment roster and adds Brembo front and rear performance anti-lock brakes, magnetic ride control, a performance-tuned suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, a dual-mode exhaust, heated and ventilated Recaro front bucket seats, alloy sport pedals, an exclusive rear spoiler, a microfiber-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and Goodyear Eagle F1 summer performance tires.
The 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 get forward collision alert (coupe only), lane change alert with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Every trim has a rearview monitor, a set of airbags, stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes.
The 1LT, 2LT, and LT1 have a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment array; an 8-inch touchscreen is optional for those trims and standard on the other four. Every Camaro gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, Bluetooth for hands-free phone use and audio streaming, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/Chevrolet connected services. The 1LT, 2LT, LT1, and 1SS get a six-speaker audio system, while the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 come with a Bose sound system (with nine speakers for the coupe and seven speakers for the convertible). The Technology Package (8-inch touchscreen, Bose audio, and voice recognition) is an option for the 1LT, 2LT, and LT1; navigation is available on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1.
Chevrolet puts a slew of packages on offer for the Camaro in its final model year. The aforementioned Collector Edition includes specific badging, a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in sueded microfiber, a striped spoiler, and special paint color choices. The ZL1 Collector Edition adds a carbon-fiber spoiler (to the coupe only) plus 20-inch wheels in Dark Graphite and a front splitter. The lower trims (1LT through LT1) qualify for the RS Package (unique LED lighting and grille, dark tinted taillights, black front badging, 20-inch wheels in gray, and a decklid-mounted lip spoiler for the coupe and a Stanchion spoiler for the convertible).
Buyers of the 1SS and 2SS may add the 1LE Track Performance Package to get Brembo brakes with red calipers, Recaro front bucket seats, a suede-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel and shift knob, black exterior styling (front splitter, hood, mirrors, and blade spoiler), Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3 performance tires on Satin Graphite 20-inch wheels, a performance suspension (with unique bushings, springs, and stabilizer bars), a dual-mode exhaust, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
The limited-availability 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package will take the ZL1’s appearance and performance to the next level with a special front splitter, front dive planes, a carbon weave hood insert and rear spoiler, a black hood wrap, darkened taillights, gloss-black side mirrors, black 19-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R tires, red brake calipers with the 1LE logo, and a performance suspension with DSSV dampers, adjustable camber plates, rear stabilizer bars, and front springs.
