Trims and Powertrains

Chevy will offer the 2024 Equinox EV in five trims: 1LT, 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS. Look for every trim to come standard with front-wheel drive and an electric motor (estimated 210 horsepower) with an Ultium battery. All-wheel drive (eAWD in Chevy speak) will be available and should increase the system output to 290 horsepower, enabling the Equinox EV to hit 60 mph from zero in six seconds. Chevrolet states that the estimated range will vary from 250 to 300 miles, depending on the configuration.

Standard 11.5 kW Level 2 charging is expected to add up to 34 miles of range per hour of charging. Faster Level 2 charging (19.2 kW), which Chevy will make optional on the 3RS eAWD, will increase charging to up to 51 miles of range per hour. All Equinox EVs will come with DC (Level 3) fast charging, which adds about 70 miles of range in about 10 minutes (at 150 kW). MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) information has not yet been released.

With the rear seat folded, the Equinox EV will have 57.2 cubic feet of storage space, including a unique dual-level cargo floor. Chevy estimates that the vehicle will be able to tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Standard Features and Options

The preliminary list of standard equipment for the Equinox EV’s 1LT trim includes multiple charging capabilities (Level 1 @ 120-volt, Level 2 @ 240-volt, and DC fast charging), an 11-inch driver information display, manually adjustable front seats, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The 2LT will also get heated features (front seats, side mirrors, and steering wheel), an eight-way power driver’s seat, a front LED light bar, and roof rails; the options should include a hands-free liftgate and a power sunroof. The 2RS is to be outfitted similarly to the 2LT, but with sporty touches like black-finished exterior accents, red-themed interior treatments, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and an available black roof.

Upgrades for the 3LT are expected to include heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a six-way power front passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free liftgate, heated windshield wiper storage, and 21-inch wheels. The 3LT’s options will most likely include a head-up display and a digital rearview mirror. The 3RS is slated as the sportier counterpart to the 3LT, with unique interior and exterior treatments.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Chevy Safety Assist will be installed on every 2024 Equinox EV. This group of the latest driver aids has forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. Other supportive technologies to be included on the Equinox EV are blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat (the driver seat vibrates during certain safety situations). Expect select trims to be eligible for adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, and Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving.

Infotainment Technology

The base infotainment system (for the 1LT, 2LT, and 2RS) for the Equinox EV will have an 11-inch touchscreen. A 17.7-inch touchscreen will be available on the 2LT and 2RS and standard on the 3LT and 3RS. Chevrolet has yet to reveal the full details on all of the features of this multimedia system, but it will surely have necessities such as smartphone integration, an audio unit, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
