Trims and Powertrains

Chevy currently offers the two-row 2024 Equinox EV in four trim packages: 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS. Details of the forthcoming entry-level 1LT will be available closer to that trim’s late 2024 release date. The 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS come standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), powered by a single 213-horsepower electric motor. The available all-wheel drive upgrade (eAWD in Chevy speak) adds an electric motor to the rear and increases the combined output to 288 horsepower. Both drivetrains are based on the 85 kWh Ultium battery pack. The FWD-equipped Equinox EV has an EPA-estimated range of 319 miles, which changes to 285 miles with the eAWD system.

Level 2/240-volt charging at 11.5 kW can add up to 36 miles of range per hour of charging. Level 3/DC fast charging at 150 kW increases range by 77 miles for every 10 minutes of charging. The Equinox EV has 26.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat or 57.2 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. With the proper factory-supplied equipment, any trim level can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Standard Features

Chevrolet equips the 2LT with numerous premium comfort and convenience features, including a hands-free power liftgate, heated front seats, a heated and wrapped steering wheel, EvoTex leatherette upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar controls, LED exterior lighting, and an 11-inch driver information display. The 2LT also gets automatic climate control (single-zone), rear privacy glass, heated power side-view mirrors, rooftop side rails, trailer pre-wiring, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, multicolored ambient cabin lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, four USB ports (two per row), and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The 2RS is the sportier counterpart to the 2LT, featuring a heated and wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, black exterior treatment, and 21-inch black-finished aluminum wheels with self-sealing tires.

The Equinox EV goes further upscale with the 3LT, adding heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a driver’s position memory system, a six-way power front passenger seat with lumbar controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, a front LED light bar, a heated windshield wiper park, and 21-inch aluminum wheels with self-sealing tires. Similarly to the 2RS and 2LT comparison, the 3RS is the sportier version of the 3LT. Its black exterior accents, flat-bottomed steering wheel, and exclusive 21-inch wheels give it more aggressive styling.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS trims come standard with Chevy Safety Assist. This group of the latest driver aids has forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, side bicycle alert, following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. The other supportive technologies include adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat vibrates during certain safety situations). Super Cruise hands-free highway driving is optional.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Equinox EV’s advanced infotainment system features an especially large touchscreen at 17.7-inches. It’s based on Google built-in (for Google Maps, Google Assistant, and other services). The system also features a six-speaker audio setup, natural voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/Chevrolet Connect Services.
