The four 2024 Equinox trim levels – LS, LT, RS, and Premier – are all invigorated by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 175 hp and 203 lb.-ft. of torque. This power is channeled through a six-speed automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive standard across the range. This vehicle’s fuel efficiency is a big draw: the EPA has estimated that each trim achieves 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
The Equinox LS starts off the lineup with an array of upscale features: proximity keyless entry, automatic LED headlights, and heated exterior mirrors. It also has push-button ignition, a pair of USB charging ports, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The LT introduces a touch of luxury with remote start, a power-operated liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, rear privacy glass, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The extra-stylish RS is distinguished by roof-mounted side rails and sleek black exterior accents.
Standing at the top of the lineup, the Premier amplifies both comfort and convenience with perforated leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a hands-free liftgate, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and position memory settings for the side mirrors and driver’s seat. It also has fog lights, a household-style 120V power outlet, and two center-console USB data ports and is eligible for these options: ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and heated rear outboard seats.
Every 2024 Equinox receives Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of advanced active driving aids that includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams (IntelliBeam). The LT and RS get the Driver Confidence II Package, which provides lane change alert, side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors; the LS is eligible for the rear parking sensors. As a standard feature, the Premier gets a unique safety seat that sends vibrating pulses in the direction of potential collisions, while Chevy’s built-in driving coach, Teen Driver, is included in all trims. Those who order the Premier can elect to add the Driver Confidence III Package for adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, and automatic parking assist (the surround-view camera and adaptive cruise control systems are also available for the LT and RS via the Advanced Safety Package).
The default multimedia system centers around a 7-inch touchscreen with these components: smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth hands-free phone/audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, a sound system with six speakers, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. With the Infotainment Package elected, the LT and RS will advance to an 8-inch touchscreen, which comes standard in the top-level Premier. The LT, RS, and Premier can also be ordered with navigation. A premium-quality 7-speaker Bose audio system is available for the RS and Premier.
