Trims, Configurations, and Powertrains

With the 2024 Silverado HD, you’ll have a choice of two payload configurations: 2500 and 3500. The trim levels for the 2500 are WT, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country, while the 3500 is offered in all of those except for Custom. Both the 2500 and 3500 are made with regular, double, and crew cab body styles.

The standard powerplant is a 6.6-liter V8 that produces 401 hp and 464 lb.-ft. of torque. For even greater performance, buyers can opt for Chevy’s legendary 6.6-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8, which makes 470 hp and 975 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines pair with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is the default in most trims; the High Country comes with standard four-wheel drive, which is optional for the other grades. Not only that, but single- and dual-wheel arrangements are optional with the Silverado HD 3500.

Towing and payload are where the 2024 Silverado HD really shine. Those with the regular 6.6-liter V8 can pull up to 19,090 pounds, whereas the Turbo-Diesel reaches its limit at 36,000 lb. The 2500 offers segment-leading maximum crew cab towing of up to 22,070 lb. For payload, the RWD Silverado HD 3500 with the regular cab and dual rear-wheel setup can accommodate up to 7,290 lb.

Comfort and Convenience

The WT is a well-equipped base trim, with vertical trailering mirrors, a cargo area with various tie-down points, remote keyless entry, rubberized vinyl flooring, single-zone automatic climate control, USB ports (data and charging), and a 12V power outlet. It also has a trailer hitch and a special hitch guidance camera view. The Custom gains large all-terrain tires, power-adjustable trailering mirrors, deep-tinted glass, and cruise control. While the LT lacks all-terrain tires, it receives some swankier amenities like an EZ-lift tailgate, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also comes with an integrated trailer brake controller.

The all-terrain tires return with the LTZ, which becomes more plush with standard remote start, perforated leather seats, a heated tilt steering wheel, and rain-sensing wipers. Its exterior attributes consist of animated LED headlights, LED fog lights and taillights, power-folding/extending trailering mirrors with auto-dimming, heated power-adjustable front seats, position memory for the driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, two 120V power outlets, second-row USB charging ports, and a rear-seat storage system. This trim also gets a close-up hitch view camera and an in-vehicle trailering app.

The High Country scores the most luxury points, with ventilated front bucket seats, a power tailgate, heated rear outboard seats, a power-sliding rear window, LED cargo lights, a spray-on bedliner, a bed-view camera system, additional USB ports, a universal garage door opener, and a wireless phone charger (many of these amenities are available on the lower trims). A 15-inch head-up display is optional on just the High Country, but Chevy’s six-function Multi-Pro tailgate with hitch-area lighting is offered for every trim.

Advanced Safety Aids

Chevy stocks the 2024 Silverado HD with some significant advanced safety technology. The WT and Custom get forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. They can also be upgraded with lane change alert, side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Every trim can be ordered with adaptive cruise control. The LT and LTZ also qualify for rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors, plus a surround-view camera and trailer side blind-zone alert; only the LTZ is eligible for a safety alert seat (which pulses in the direction of a potential collision so you can alter your course) and front parking sensors. All of those technologies come standard in the High Country.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The WT and Custom receive an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, a six-speaker sound system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. SiriusXM satellite radio is available for the WT, but it becomes standard at the Custom trim level. Meanwhile, the LT, LTZ, and High Country get a class-leading 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in. Even though the six-speaker sound system is standard in the LT and LTZ, the LTZ can be ordered with a top-tier seven-speaker Bose, which is standard in the High Country.
