There are six trims for the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. While a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 is standard with most, a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 comes in the High Country and is optional with the RST, Z71, and Premier. A 277-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter Duramax Diesel is available for all trims except the Z71. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard for most Suburban trims, while the Z71 gets four-wheel drive (4WD), which is optional otherwise. A ten-speed automatic is the sole transmission.
According to the official estimations performed by the EPA, fuel economy for the Suburban varies depending on the engine and drivetrain. The 5.3-liter V8 is rated for 15 mpg in the city and 18-20 mpg on the highway. With the 6.2-liter engine, the Suburban is rated for 14 mpg around town and 18-20 mpg on the open road. The Duramax Diesel delivers 20-21 mpg in the city and 26-27 mpg on the highway.
The Suburban has a maximum cargo space of 144.7 cubic feet (behind the first row). With all seats in use, there is 41.5 cubic feet of storage volume. The tow capacity varies by configuration, ranging between 7,400 and 8,300 pounds.
In its standard configuration, the LS accommodates eight people, but an available front-row bench seat increases capacity to nine. The LT, RST, and Z71 trims have eight-passenger seating but can be outfitted with second-row captain’s chairs, reducing capacity to seven. The Premier and High Country come standard with the captain’s chairs but are eligible for a second-row bench seat.
The LS trim is equipped for crowd comfort with tri-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, fabric upholstery, heated power side mirrors, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. This starter Suburban also gets remote keyless entry, remote start, a 4.2-inch driver information center, six USB ports (two per row), a cargo area management system, assist steps, and rooftop side rails. The upgrades for the LT include leather seating surfaces (first and second rows), a hands-free power tailgate, heated front seats, a ten-way power front passenger seat, a driver’s seat memory system, a 12-inch driver information display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The RST starts with the LT’s equipment list and adds black-finish exterior treatments, unique interior finishings, and 22-inch high-gloss black-finish wheels.
The Z71 brings expanded off-road credentials with a two-speed transfer case, a front skid plate, a special front fascia (for improved ground clearance), hill descent control, a heavy-duty air filter, and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The Suburban goes upscale with the Premier trim. This edition gets magnetic ride control, heated second-row outboard seats, an enhanced driver’s memory system, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a power-folding third-row bench seat, a power-sliding center console, and heated power side mirrors (with power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming functionality). Chevy offers the ultimate Suburban with the High Country trim. It expands on what the Premier offers by adding heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, exclusive exterior treatments, and 22-inch aluminum wheels.
Every 2024 Suburban trim has Chevy Safety Assist for forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. The Premier and High Country get lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, which are optional on lower trims. Enhanced automatic emergency braking (which operates at 2 to 5 mph) is available on the RST and Premier and included in the High Country.
A surround-view monitor and rear pedestrian alert are standard with the High Country and available on lower trims (except the LS). Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat vibrates during specific safety notifications) is exclusive to the Premier and High Country. Adaptive cruise control is available for the RST and Premier and included with the High Country. Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving is an exclusive option for the Premier and High Country.
Infotainment for the LS is handled through an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims get a premium 10.2-inch touchscreen with connected navigation. Both systems are supported by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The LS gets a six-speaker audio system while higher trims get a Bose sound system (with nine speakers for the LT, RST, and Z71 and ten speakers for the Premier and High Country). All trims have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/Chevrolet connected services (for emergency help and remote features). All trims (except the LS) have wireless device charging.
