Tahoe buyers can choose from six trims: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. Most trims have a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 under the hood. However, a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 motivates the High Country. This engine upgrade is optional with the RST, Z71, and Premier. Chevy also offers a 3.0-liter six-cylinder Duramax Turbo Diesel; this engine produces 277 horsepower and is available with all Tahoe grades except the Z71. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard with all trims except the Z71, which has four-wheel drive (4WD). 4WD is optional for the other trims. A ten-speed automatic transmission manages all drivetrains.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for a V8-powered Tahoe ranges from 14-15 mpg in the city and 18-20 mpg on the highway, depending on the displacement size and drivetrain. Ratings for a Tahoe with the Duramax Diesel are 20-21 mpg around town and 26-28 mpg on the open road. When properly equipped, the 2024 Tahoe has a maximum towing capability of 8,400 pounds.
Even the starter Tahoe, the LS, is well equipped with keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, dedicated rear air conditioning, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, fabric upholstery, push-button start, LED exterior lighting, rear privacy glass, sound-reducing glass, heated power side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 4.2-inch driver information display, six USB ports (two per row), and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Its standard seating configuration is for eight passengers, but the optional front-row bench will increase capacity to nine. The LT trim is upgraded with leather upholstery, wireless device charging, a hands-free tailgate, heated front seats, driver’s position memory, a 12-inch digital instrument panel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The RST mirrors the LT’s features while adding black exterior accents, perforated leather upholstery, a distinct front-end design, and 22-inch black-finish alloy wheels. The Z71 combines most of the LT’s features with trail-driving equipment, including all-terrain tires, a front skid plate, front recovery hooks, hill descent control, and a trim-specific front end with improved approach angles. The available Off-Road Capability Package will add magnetic ride control, an air-ride adaptive suspension, and an electronic limited-slip differential. The LT, RST, and Z71 come with a second-row bench seat for eight-passenger seating, but the available second-row captain’s chairs will add comfort while reducing the capacity to seven people. Those same three trims are also eligible for the Luxury Package, which adds a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, power-folding second and third-row seats, a power-sliding center console, heated power side mirrors with power-folding and auto-dimming, and additional safety technologies (see the next section for more information).
The Premier is equipped similarly to the LT with the Luxury Package. It also gets heated and ventilated front seats, an advanced driver’s memory system, second-row captain’s chairs, magnetic ride control, and 20-inch wheels. The High Country expands the Premier’s feature list by adding a head-up display, distinctive exterior accents, and 22-inch wheels.
All Tahoe trims have Chevy Safety Assist installed. This high-tech suite consists of forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. The Driver Alert Package, which is part of the Luxury Package for the mid-grade trims and is standard on the Premier and High Country, adds lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Most trims, when they are equipped with the Driver Alert Package, are available with a surround-view monitor, which is standard on the High Country. The Premier and High Country can be upgraded with reverse automatic braking, enhanced automatic parking, Super Cruise hands-free highway driving, and enhanced automatic emergency braking (AEB). Enhanced AEB is also an option for the RST. The safety alert seat (the driver’s seat vibrates for specific safety notifications) is included in the Premier and High Country. The ’24 Tahoe’s other safety equipment includes an array of airbags plus anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment for the 2024 Tahoe is managed via an 8-inch (LS) or 10.2-inch (LT and above) touchscreen. The standard features across all trims are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and access to OnStar/Chevrolet Connected Services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The base LS gets a six-speaker audio system, while the higher trims move up to a nine-speaker (LT, RST, and Z71) or ten-speaker (Premier and High Country) Bose sound system.
