Two vehicles wear the Yukon label. The regular Yukon has a 210-inch length and a 120.9-inch wheelbase while the stretched-out Yukon XL is 225.2 inches long and rolls on a 134-inch wheelbase (this edition also has a more spacious third row and greater cargo room). Except for dimensional differences, these two Yukons have the same equipment, features, and options, so from this point on we’ll refer to them collectively as the Yukon unless a differing feature is mentioned.
GMC offers five trim packages for the ‘24 Yukon: SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Most trims come with rear-wheel drive (RWD), with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional and standard with the AT4 and Denali Ultimate. A 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 is the standard engine for the SLE, SLT, and AT4, while a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 is available with the AT4 and included with both Denali trims. GMC also offers an optional 277-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder Duramax Diesel on all trims except the AT4. Regardless of the engine, the transmission is a ten-speed automatic.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for a V8-equipped Yukon ranges from 14 to 15 mpg in the city and 18 to 20 mpg on the highway (depending on engine size, vehicle length, and drivetrain). The Duramax Diesel is rated for 20 to 21 mpg around town and 26 to 27 mpg on the open road (the precise rating varies by vehicle length and drivetrain).
Behind the third row, there is 25.5 of cargo space in the Yukon and 41.5 cubic feet in the Yukon XL. This storage area expands to 72.6 cu. ft. and 93.8 cu. ft., respectively, behind the second row and 122.9 cu. ft. and 144.7 cu. ft. after the first row. When the Yukon is properly equipped, it can tow up to 8,400 pounds.
The SLE comes with eight-passenger seating for its base configuration. A front-row bench seat is available for those wishing to seat nine passengers, as is a switch to second-row captain’s chairs for a seven-passenger layout. The key standard equipment for the SLE includes tri-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, LED exterior lighting (including LED fog lights), fabric upholstery, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. GMC also gives the SLE a 12-inch driver information display, a manual liftgate, a manual tilt and telescopic steering column, a wrapped steering wheel, rear privacy glass, rain-sensing windshield wipers, assist steps, and six USB ports (two per row).
The SLT adds perforated leather upholstery (first and second rows), a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, a driver’s position memory system, chrome exterior accents, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless device charging, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. The AT4’s off-road credentials come from adaptive dampers, a skid plate, front tow hooks, an exclusive front-end design with a high approach angle (for better obstruction clearance), and all-terrain tires. This trim’s comfort/convenience features include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row outboard seats, a power-folding 60/40-split folding third-row seat, and a power tilt and telescopic steering column. The SLT and AT4 can both be set up with second-row captain’s chairs.
The Denali is known as the loaded trim across the GMC lineup, and in the Yukon’s case it provides second-row captain’s chairs, a head-up display, a power tilt and telescopic steering column, a power-sliding center console, trim-specific exterior treatments, and heated power side mirrors with auto-dimming. The Denali Ultimate takes luxury even further with a power panoramic sunroof, full-grain leather upholstery, 16-way power front seats, an adaptive air ride suspension, power-retractable assist steps, GMC ProGrade Trailering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a camera-enhanced rearview mirror, and 22-inch wheels.
All Yukon/Yukon XL trims are equipped with GMC Pro Safety, a safety technology suite encompassing forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. Lane keep assist with lane departure warning, lane change alert with side blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are optional with the SLE and standard on the SLT and above. The SLT and higher get the Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat vibrates during specific safety notifications). Adaptive cruise control is available for the SLT and included on the Denali and Denali Ultimate. All trims get front and rear parking sensors, while semi-autonomous parking assist is optional on the Denali and standard in the Denali Ultimate. A surround-view monitor is standard with the Denali and Denali Ultimate and optional with the SLT and AT4. Super Cruise driving assist is optional for both Denali trims. This technology supports hands-free driving on over 400,000 miles of U.S. and Canadian highways.
Every Yukon is equipped with a full set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and a rearview monitor. The AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate also receive hill descent control.
While every 2024 Yukon trim gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in, their audio systems have different specs. The SLE gets a basic six-speaker sound system, while the higher trims are upgraded with Bose units (9 speakers for the SLT and AT4, 14 for the Denali, and 18 for the Denali Ultimate). In all trims, the infotainment components are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/GMC Connected services.
