The 2025 Colorado has five trims to choose from: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. All of them come with a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder TurboMax engine (310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque) coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The WT and LT come standard in rear-wheel-drive (RWD), with four-wheel-drive (4WD) optional. The higher trims are 4WD-only.
The RWD LT boasts the best fuel economy at 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway, followed by the WT, Trail Boss, and Z71, which return 18 city/22 highway mpg with either drivetrain. The ZR2 achieves a slightly lower 17 city/20 highway mpg. The Colorado has a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lb. The WT and LT lead the pack in payload capacity at 2,046 lb., followed by the Trail Boss at 1,762 lb., the Z71 at 1,733 lb., and the ZR2 at 1,445 lb.
The 2025 Colorado has a four-door crew cab configuration with a 61.7-inch bed and a fully boxed frame. The WT and LT feature an Autotrac 1-speed transfer case, while the Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 have an Autotrac 2-speed transfer case, hill descent control, and an automatic locking rear differential. The ZR2 receives both front and rear driver-selectable, full-locking differentials for enhanced off-road performance. The normal drive mode serves as the default for all trims, accompanied by tow/haul mode. The trail-ready ZR2 comes with off-road and terrain drive modes (both are available on the Trail Boss and Z71), as well as the exclusive Baja drive mode for enhanced off-road performance.
The base WT gets fabric upholstery, a 6-way manual driver’s seat, a 4-way manual front passenger seat, an 11-inch digital information display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, automatic-on/off headlights, cargo area lights, heated power side mirrors, two front USB ports, a 12-volt outlet (center console), remote keyless entry, a locking tailgate, power locks, single-zone climate control with rear A/C vents, a day/night rearview mirror, a manual sliding rear window, two horizontal black recovery hooks, solar glass on the front windows, privacy glass on the rear windows, a second-row 60/40- split bench seat, a CornerStep rear bumper, and 17-inch Ultra Silver Metallic steel wheels. The WT Convenience Package II can be added for an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a wrapped steering wheel, and a locking StowFlex tailgate with EZ-Lift and Lower. The WT Custom Package adds 18-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels and black exterior badging. All trims are eligible for the Utility Wall Package (bedside and front utility walls with latch and strap kits), the Pro Essentials Package (bedliner with storage compartments, LED cargo lights, and molded splash guards), and the Advanced Trailering Package (automatic locking rear differential, in-vehicle trailering app, 2-inch receiver hitch, 7-wire electrical harness, and trailer brake controller). Among the a la carte options are interior ambient lighting, all-weather floor mats, and GM’s subscription-based MobilService+ suite.
The LT receives heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a StowFlex tailgate with EZ-Lift and Lower, and 17-inch Argent Metallic aluminum wheels. The LT Convenience Package will add LED headlights, taillights, fog lights, and daytime running lights, as well as Evotex seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, two rear USB ports, two 120-volt power outlets (one in the center console, one in the bed), and the safety-related contents of the Technology Package.
The Trail Boss goes back to the 6-way manual driver’s seat, a 4-way manual front passenger seat, manual day/night rearview mirror, and standard steering wheel, but is trail performance-driven with an off-road suspension, a 2-inch factory lift, 18-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels in an ultra-wide (three extra inches) stance, and the Advanced Trailering Package as a standard feature. The optional Trail Boss Convenience Package II offers Evotex seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heated front seats, a heated wrapped steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and remote start. The Off-Road Bumper Package includes an off-road bumper with a safari bar and pod lights, a 30-inch grille-mounted off-road light bar, a front skid plate (available separately with the Skid Plate Package), and an accessory power distribution box and switch kit. The Recovery Package will add a winch and off-road recovery kit, while the Off-Road Lighting Package adds auxiliary off-road lights. The Trail Boss is also offered as the new Midnight Edition, featuring a bed-mounted sport bar, a 40-inch off-road roof light bar, a power distribution box, black badging, an AUX interior switch plate, and 20-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels (with a full-sized spare).
The Z71 has heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a wrapped steering wheel. It also comes with Evotex upholstery, auto-on/off LED projector headlights, LED taillights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, a remote locking StowFlex tailgate with EZ-Lift and Lower, wireless phone charging, two 120-volt power outlets (one in the center console, one in the bed), red recovery hooks, and 18-inch Android Dark full-gloss aluminum wheels. A power sunroof is optional, as is the Z71 Convenience Package III (leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, driver’s-seat memory settings, and a rear center armrest). The Z71 Midnight Edition swaps its red recovery hooks for black ones and gets black assist steps and high-gloss black aluminum wheels.
The trail-ready ZR2 receives leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, driver’s-seat memory, a heated wrapped steering wheel, a 3-inch factory lift, a spray-on bedliner, off-road rocker protectors, a trim-exclusive TurboMax hood emblem, a rear center armrest, and 17-inch Graphite and Oxide Gold aluminum wheels. For the ultimate trail performance, the ZR2 Bison Edition comes with a stamped-steel front bumper and skid plate, additional skid plates (for the transfer case, rear differential, and fuel tank), a stamped-steel rear bumper with heavy-duty cast recovery points, wheel flares, Multimatic jounce control dampers, a bed-mounted spare tire, all-weather floor liners, and 17-inch beadlock-capable metallic wheels with 33-inch OD MT tires (plus a full-sized spare). The ZR2 Midnight Edition gets removable off-road assist steps and high-gloss black aluminum wheels.
Every 2025 Colorado comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist Package, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. Also standard across the lineup are rear cross-traffic braking, an LED reflective windshield collision alert, the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control, rear park assist, blind-zone steering assist, a rear seat reminder and rear seatbelt warning, an HD rear camera, hitch view for safe towing, and buckle-to-drive technology (prevents shifting out of park before the driver has fastened their seatbelt).
The Teen Driver feature is also standard. It turns off the audio until the front passengers fasten their seatbelts, activates safety systems when the teen-designated key fob is in use, and provides an in-vehicle report card to encourage safe driving habits. All trims are eligible for OnStar, GM’s subscription-based safety and connectivity suite. The Technology Package, available on the LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR1, offers HD Surround Vision, adaptive cruise control, and rear pedestrian alert. Front and rear underbody cameras – a segment first – are also available on the Z71 and ZR2.
The 2025 Colorado features an 11.3-inch LCD infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless smartphone connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone use and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. The Z71 and ZR2 are eligible for a premium 7-speaker Bose audio system with an amplifier via the Technology Package.
