Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe is presented in a diverse selection of trims: LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, and High Country. The three engines on offer are a 5.3-liter V8 (355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque), a 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo Diesel (305 hp and 495 lb.-ft. of torque), and a 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque). The 5.3-liter V8 is standard in all but the High Country, which is outfitted with the 6.2-liter V8 (this more powerful V8 is available for the Z71 and above trims). Meanwhile, the Duramax® Turbo Diesel can be ordered in all but the base LS.

Each engine works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and but the Z71 come with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD). The rugged Z71 is strictly four-wheel drive (4WD), which is optional for the others. Towing capacity is an important factor for buyers in this segment: the ’25 Tahoe has an 8,400-pound maximum when it’s configured with the 5.3-liter V8 and RWD. This changes to 8,200 pounds with the 6.2-liter V8 and Duramax®.

According to the EPA’s official estimates, RWD Tahoes achieve 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. When 4WD is paired with the 5.3-liter V8, the fuel efficiency numbers change to 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway. The Tahoe returns 14 mpg city/18 mpg highway with the 6.2-liter V8 and 4WD.

Standard and Available Features

The LS is the only Tahoe trim that can accommodate nine occupants, thanks to three-person bench seats serving all three rows. On the mechanical and trailering side, it has a limited-slip rear differential, a trailering hitch platform with a two-inch receiver, a 7-wire electrical harness and 7-pin connector (for hooking up your trailer’s lights and brakes to the vehicle), trailer sway control, and Hitch Guidance; in conjunction with 4WD, an Autotrac® single-speed transfer case will be included. The cabin has cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a wrapped steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, two 120V power outlets, push-button start, and multiple USB ports (Type-A and Type-C). Other standout features of this trim include proximity keyless entry, remote start, roof rails, assist steps, automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, deep-tinted rear glass, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 18-inch wheels.

The LT welcomes leather upholstery, heated front seats, position memory for the driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, a power liftgate, and two third-row USB-C charge ports. The intrepid Z71 is primed for adventure, adding red recovery hooks, skid plates, shock absorbers, 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory® all-terrain tires, unique Z71 exterior accents, and LED fog lights. It also has an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a universal home remote.

The RST builds on the LT’s equipment roster with the auto-dimming rearview mirror/universal home remote and LED fog lights, plus perforated leather upholstery, exclusive RST design elements, and 22-inch wheels. The RST Performance Edition Package is one of the most noteworthy optional bundles for the latest Tahoe, packing the 6.2-liter V8 engine, a lowered suspension, Firehawk Pursuit tires, heavy-duty Brembo brakes, and performance calibrated steering.

The Premier reverts to the 20-inch wheels but gains ventilated front seats, heated second-row bucket seats (reducing passenger seating to seven), a power third-row bench seat, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, additional position memory settings (for the side mirrors and steering wheel), a power-sliding center console, the Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension, power-folding side mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming, and LED headlights and taillights with special animations. The High Country goes back to the 22-inch wheels while adding a 15-inch head-up display (the largest in the segment) and a rear camera mirror, which takes what the backup camera sees and projects it onto the rearview mirror.

Some of those high-level features can be ordered as options on the lower trims. Other extras of note include a panoramic glass roof, a keyless entry keypad, a rear-seat entertainment center with dual 12.6-inch LCD headrest displays and a pair of wireless headphones, and 24-inch wheels.

Active Safety Tech

The Chevy Safety Assist suite of the latest driver-assist technologies is installed in every 2025 Tahoe. It consists of forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian/cyclist detection, reverse automatic braking with pedestrian alert, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, automatic parking assist, a surround-view camera, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, hill start assist, and rear seat reminder. Also standard are GM’s Safety Alert Seat (it uses vibrations in the driver’s seat to signal the direction of potential crashes) and Teen Driver (provides driving reinforcement to help young drivers form safe habits). The higher trims (LT, RST, Premier, and High Country) are eligible for GM’s groundbreaking Super Cruise® hands-free driving system.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Tahoe now uses a sophisticated new Google built-in infotainment system with a class-leading 17.7-inch touchscreen (the system also responds to voice commands). It brings together integrated navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 5G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free. In most trims, the sound system comes with six speakers, but the Premier and High Country are upgraded with a 10-speaker Bose unit with CenterPoint® surround sound.
