The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 comes in eight trims: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. The Pro, SLE, and Elevation have a 2.7-liter “TurboMax” four-cylinder base engine generating 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. These trims can alternatively be equipped with an optional 5.3-liter V8, producing 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, which comes standard on SLT and Denali trims.
The AT4 and AT4X include a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel as standard equipment; it puts out 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque comes standard on the Denali Ultimate. The turbodiesel is also available for the SLE, Elevation, SLT, and Denali, while the larger V8 is an option for the SLT, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.
An eight-speed automatic transmission pairs with the four-cylinder engine, while other powertrains use a ten-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive comes standard on most trims, with four-wheel drive optional and standard on the AT4, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.
The 2025 Sierra offers three cab configurations: regular (two doors), double (two standard front doors and two smaller rear doors), and crew (four standard doors). Cargo beds come in short (69.92 inches), standard (79.44 inches), and long (98.2 inches) lengths. Regular cabs pair exclusively with the Pro trim, with either a standard bed or long bed. Double cab editions with standard beds are available in the Pro, SLE, and Elevation grades. Crew cab configurations with short or standard beds span all trims, while the AT4X and Denali Ultimate exclusively have a crew cab and short bed combination.
Payload capacity ranges from 1,720 to 2,240 pounds, with towing capacities spanning 8,800 to 13,300 pounds, depending on trim, powertrain, configuration, and equipment. Fuel economy also varies: the turbo four-cylinder is EPA-rated for 17 to 19 mpg in the city and 18 to 22 mpg on the highway. The 5.3-liter V8 returns 15 to 17 mpg city/19 to 21 mpg highway, while the 6.2-liter V8 achieves 14 to 16 mpg city/17 to 20 mpg highway. The Duramax diesel leads efficiency ratings at 20 to 24 mpg in city driving and 22 to 29 mpg on the open road.
