The 2026 Equinox comes in three trims: LT, ACTIV, and RS. All of them have a 175-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the optional all-wheel drivetrain gets an eight-speed automatic. Towing capacity ranges from 800 pounds (FWD) to 1,500 pounds (AWD). The Equinox has 29.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet behind the front seats.
Fuel economy ratings for the 2026 Equinox weren’t available at the time of this writing, but we expect they’re similar or identical to last model year’s figures. The 2025 Equinox was EPA-rated to return 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway (FWD) and 24 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the open road (AWD).
The entry-level LT has a surprising level of standard features, including remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, proximity keyless entry, heated power side mirrors, LED exterior lighting, and an 11-inch driver information display. It also has fabric upholstery, active noise cancellation, rear privacy glass, push-button start, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a wrapped steering wheel, four USB ports (two per row), and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
The ACTIV trim moves up to a blend of sueded microfiber and Evotex (leatherette) upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar controls, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated wiper park, rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, roof rails, trim-specific styling, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The RS is equipped similarly to ACTIV but with Evotex upholstery, a wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, unique design accents, and 19-inch wheels.
Every Equinox is set up with Chevy Safety Assist, a comprehensive suite of advanced safety technologies. That list consists of forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking with intersection support, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, side bicyclist alert, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, GM’s Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat will vibrate during certain safety warnings), rear parking sensors, a following distance indicator, a rear seat reminder, and automatic high beams. Teen Driver is also included, enabling parents to set vehicle operating limitations and review driving performance. All trims get a set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor and are eligible for these options: a surround-view monitor, rear pedestrian alert, traffic sign recognition, and a digital rearview mirror.
Equinox passengers manage their infotainment through an 11.3-inch touchscreen, regardless of the trim level. This Google built-in system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google Maps, Google Assistant, and a six-speaker audio system. All trims have 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability and access to OnStar for emergency assistance, remote functions, and other services.
