2025 Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban, a longstanding icon in the full-sized SUV market, has been given a significant refresh for the 2025 model year. As part of Chevrolet's ever-popular large SUV lineup, the three-row Suburban brings fresh exterior and interior designs, enhanced powertrain options, and advanced technology features.

The visual changes are most noticeable, with the 2025 Suburban presenting a new front-end design with more prominent signature lighting and new lighting animations. The exterior updates extend to newly available 24-inch wheels and additional refinements across the lineup. Inside, the Suburban hosts a revamped interior centered around a debuting best-in-segment 17.7-inch-diagonal touchscreen. Chevy has also upgraded the model’s ride and handling characteristics for even greater driving refinement.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2025 Suburban comes in six trims – LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country – with three engine choices available. The standard engine for LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims is a 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. A more powerful 6.2-liter V-8, generating 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, is standard on the High Country and available on the RST, Z71, and Premier. New for 2025 is a refined, second-generation 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel Duramax engine, making 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque, which is respectively 10% and 7.6% more than last year’s Duramax. This new diesel is optional for the first time on all trims, including the Z71, and will be available later in 2025.

All engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. When it’s properly equipped, the 2025 Suburban offers a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds. Gasoline fuel economy ranges from 14 to 15 mpg in the city and 18 to 20 mpg on the highway, depending on the powertrain. The EPA hasn’t yet released its official ratings for the Duramax diesel.

The well-equipped Suburban LS offers seating for eight (front bucket seats) or nine (front row split-bench seat), tri-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger seat, and rear air conditioning. The RST takes on a more athletic appearance thanks to black exterior treatments, perforated leather seating surfaces, and 22-inch aluminum wheels. Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2025 Suburbans come standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of advanced safety features including enhanced automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, and automatic high beams. Additional standard safety features include enhanced automatic parking assist, a surround-view monitor, Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver.

Chevrolet has also added new trailering technologies to the 2025 Suburban. These include Trailer Tire Health, which helps prevent trailer tire blowouts, Mobile Trailering App Load Rating Info (to access the vehicle’s load rating), and Forward Path Indication to assist with trailer navigation. Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology, is available on all trims except the LS and Z71. This system allows hands-free driving on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The centerpiece of the 2025 Suburban’s interior is the all-new standard 17.7-inch-diagonal freeform infotainment screen. This system is based on Google built-in with popular apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. All trims are set up for subscription-based 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability and access to OnStar/Chevrolet connected services. A six-speaker audio system is standard in most trims, while a ten-speaker Bose arrangement is included with the Premier and High Country and optional on all lower grades except the LS.
