2025 GMC Sierra EV

For 2025, the GMC Sierra EV gets a revised Denali trim lineup. Last year's Denali Edition 1 launch model is replaced by the Extended Range and Max Range variants, with the latter offering an impressive 460 miles of range, according to GM estimates.

The Sierra EV Denali continues to offer innovative features first seen on the Edition 1. A vehicle-to-home (V2H) charging feature allows this all-electric pickup to power a home during a blackout (when it’s properly equipped). Meanwhile, the MultiPro Midgate expands the cargo bed to fit items up to 11 feet long, and the lockable under-hood eTrunk provides a clever storage solution. At the same time, the CrabWalk four-wheel steering system, 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, air-ride adaptive suspension, and 10,500-pound max towing capacity make this anything but an ordinary truck. As tested by Car and Driver, the 2025 Sierra EV Denali boasts a zero-to-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds, for an appealing combination of strong straight-line performance, cutting-edge EV technology, and full-sized pickup versatility.

Trim and Powertrain

The Sierra EV is currently available in one highly equipped trim, the Denali, with two variants: Extended Range and Max Range. Both versions have standard four-wheel drive (4WD) and a five-passenger crew cab configuration and a 70.59-inch cargo bed. The Sierra EV Denali Extended Range features 800-volt architecture and dual electric motors (one per axle) that generate a combined 645 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft. of torque. Its 170-kWh battery provides up to 390 miles of range. The Max Range edition has a similar mechanical setup, but its 204-kWh battery and additional engineering translate into 760 net horsepower and 460 miles of estimated range.

The Extended Range has a peak DC fast charging capability of 300 kW, while the Max Range can reach 350 kW. At its quickest, the Sierra EV Max Range can add up to 100 miles of range in about ten minutes. A NACS adapter for access to the Tesla Supercharger Network is available. Both Sierra EV editions have a towing capacity of 10,500 pounds.

Standard Features

The Extended Range’s substantial equipment list starts with numerous exterior features, including a fixed-panel glass roof, an adaptive air-ride suspension, the GMC MultiPro tailgate (with EZ Lift and power functions), a power hood, LED exterior lighting (with fog lamps), the ProGrade Trailering System, proximity keyless entry, heated power side mirrors, a spray-on bedliner, rear privacy glass, 120- and 240-volt power outlets (in the cargo bed), LED cargo bed lighting, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 24-inch aluminum wheels.

The interior amenities are equally extensive with leather-alternative seating surfaces, eight-way power front seats (heated and ventilated), a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, a driver’s memory system, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 14-inch color head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror. The Extended Range edition also has an 11-inch driver information display, 120-volt power outlets (center console and eTrunk), USB ports, keyless start, remote start, and wireless device charging. The Sierra EV Max Range version is almost identical to the Extended Range, except for these additions to its power-folding side mirrors: integrated turn signals, puddle lamps, and driver-side auto-dimming.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The 2025 Sierra EV Denali is equipped with GMC’s latest advanced driver-assistance systems. These technologies consist of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-zone steering assist (with trailering support), front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic braking, and reverse automatic braking. Other driver support systems include GM’s Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat vibrates for select safety notifications), rear pedestrian alert, side bicyclist alert, driver attention assist, a following distance indicator, traffic sign recognition, rear seat reminder, a surround-view monitor, and trailer support (hitch guidance, hitch view, and trailer view camera provisioning). Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free highway driving system, comes standard with a three-year subscription. Supplemental safety equipment includes multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 16.8-inch portrait-style infotainment touchscreen is front and center in the Sierra EV’s cabin. The oversized display is based on Google built-in, providing convenient access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and other popular apps. The system also has SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system. Both editions have 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability and access to OnStar services for emergency assistance and remote functions.
