2025 GMC
Terrain
The all-new 2025 GMC Terrain marks the start of the model’s third generation, with some new features and
a revamped lineup. For starters, the base Elevation trim has replaced the SLE and SLT. This redesign
also marks the first time the Terrain can be ordered with a two-tone exterior color scheme, with two
roof colors to choose from. The large, vertically integrated 15-inch infotainment screen is a standout
item; it’s based on Google built-in, with quick access to the most popular apps. An available
rear-camera digital mirror with up to eight viewpoints is a new addition to the safety tech
array.
The Terrain is highly customizable, with a number of optional packages that range from
all-weather floor mats and CoreTec leatherette seats to a hands-free power liftgate and panoramic
sunroof, as well as numerous individual accessories. The Black Edition adds black exterior trim,
accents, badging, and wheels.
Trims and Powertrain
For the 2025 model year, GMC offers the Terrain solely in the base Elevation trim. With standard front-wheel-drive (FWD), the powertrain pairs a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), producing 175 horsepower, 184 lb.-ft. of torque). With this drivetrain, the Terrain Elevation can tow up to 800 pounds. There’s an optional upgrade to an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Although the horsepower stays the same as with the FWD, torque output increases to 203 lb.-ft. and the towing capacity nearly doubles to 1,500 lb. Fuel economy reaches 26 mpg city and 28 mpg highway with FWD and 24 city/28 highway mpg with AWD.
Standard Features and Available Furnishings
The Terrain Elevation gets remote start, cloth upholstery, a 6-way manual driver’s seat, a 4-way manual
front passenger’s seat, an 11-inch digital information display, push-button ignition, keyless lock and
unlock, noise cancellation technology, heated power side-view mirrors, LED headlights with automatic
on/off, LED taillights, a day/night rearview mirror, single-zone automatic climate control, two USB
ports (one type A and one type C) in the center console, solar windows, and 17-inch Grazen metallic
machined-face aluminum wheels. It also has an automatic heated steering wheel that turns on whenever the
heated front seats are in use.
GMC offers a number of optional bundles to add more features to
the Terrain. The Black Edition appearance package adds black exterior accents and badging, along with
19-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels. The Convenience Package II consists of an 8-way power-adjustable
driver’s seat with lumbar support, a cabin humidity sensor that automatically adjusts airflow to match
climate control settings, wireless smartphone charging, a programmable hands-free power liftgate, and a
universal home remote. The Convenience Package III goes further with an 8-way power-adjustable front
passenger seat with lumbar support, ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory settings, and heated
rear seats. The Elevation Premium Package adds CoreTec leatherette upholstery in After Dark or Gideon
Gray and 19-inch Technical Gray Machined-face aluminum wheels.
A two-tone exterior is available
with either an Ebony Twilight Metallic or Sterling Metallic roof, as are a dual-pane sunroof, rear
camera washer, dual-zone climate control, roof rails and crossbars, all-weather floor liners and cargo
mats, horizontal and vertical cargo nets, and a cargo organizer.
Safety and Driver Assist Aids
The 2025 Terrain Elevation is outfitted with plenty of advanced driver-assist technologies. The list
consists of forward collision alert, side bicycle alert, following distance indicator, occupant presence
detection, an automatic occupant sensing display, a passenger sensing system, a rear seat reminder,
buckle-to-drive technology (prevents shifting out of park before the driver has fastened their
seatbelt), and a safety alert driver’s seat that uses vibrations to notify the driver of obstacles. An
HD rear camera is also standard, along with automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicycle
braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic
braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, rear park assist, blind-zone steering assist, and
hill descent control.
All trims are set up with GM’s Teen Driver feature, which encourages good
behind-the-wheel habits in the newly licensed. For example, it mutes the radio until the front
passengers fasten their seatbelts, activates safety systems when the teen-designated key fob is in use,
and provides an in-vehicle report card for adults to review and use as a teaching tool.
The
Technology Package II can be added for optional safety upgrades that include HD surround vision, a rear
camera mirror, rear pedestrian alert, traffic sign recognition, and LED fog lights.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The 2025 Terrain boasts a vertically oriented 15-inch touchscreen with built-in Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store, as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system. GM’s subscription-based OnStar safety and connectivity suite is available, along with the MobileService+ assistance suite, which facilitates service visits.
