Colorado

The 2026 Chevy Colorado is part of the third generation that brought new design, updated technology, and even more rugged versatility to the automaker’s benchmark midsized pickup. Chevrolet’s something-for-everyone approach translates into a broad trim range, from the entry-level Work Truck to the off-road-focused ZR2. Notably, with a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, most Colorado trims surpass those of every class competitor. The power comes from a proven turbocharged engine that enables robust capability without requiring extra stops at the pump.

Meanwhile, the spacious crew cab provides generous accommodations for five. Every ride is enhanced with an advanced infotainment system that keeps the driver and passenger connected, while the upper trims introduce premium touches like upgraded upholstery and wireless device charging. It all adds to a pickup truck that’s ready for the job site on weekdays and road tripping on the weekends.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2026 Colorado comes exclusively in a crew cab (four-door) configuration with a 61.7-inch cargo bed. The five trims – WT (Work Truck), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 – all have a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder engine under the hood. This powerplant makes 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The WT and LT have rear-wheel drive but are eligible for the four-wheel drive that comes standard on the higher trims. Most trims can tow up to 7,700 pounds, although the ZR2 dips to a 6,000-pound capacity due to its off-road suspension. The EPA-estimated fuel economy information for 2026 wasn’t available at the time of this writing, but it should stay close to the 2025 Colorado’s rating of 18–19 mpg in the city and 22–24 mpg on the highway (the numbers vary depending on the trim and drivetrain).

Standard Features

The WT is relatively basic with fabric upholstery, single-zone climate control, an 11-inch driver information display, a remote-locking tailgate, a sliding rear window, push-button start, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Chevrolet also gives it rear privacy glass, backseat air vents, heated power side mirrors, two USB ports, and 17-inch steel wheels. The LT adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, proximity keyless entry, remote start, the proprietary StowFlex tailgate with integrated storage, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, carpeted floor mats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

The Trail Boss maintains some of the LT’s amenities, like the StowFlex tailgate and dual-zone automatic climate control, while adding expanded off-road components. These upgrades include a 2-inch factory lift, a wider chassis, wheel flares, a two-speed transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, a heavy-duty alternator, selectable drive modes, and 32-inch all-terrain tires on 18-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels.

The Z71 presents the best of both worlds, mixing additional comfort and convenience amenities with the Trail Boss’s capabilities. These enhancements include heated front seats, upholstery in a blend of fabric and Evotex (leatherette), LED exterior lighting, an eight-way power driver's seat with power lumbar controls, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and unique exterior accents. A tilt-and-telescopic steering column, two second-row USB ports, 120-volt outlets, and wireless device charging are also part of the Z71 standard equipment.

The ZR2 is ready for go-anywhere adventure, thanks to a 3-inch factory lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, electronic front and rear locking differentials, wheel flares, off-road front and rear fasciae, a spray-on bedliner, and 17-inch aluminum wheels with 33-inch mud-terrain tires. It’s also made more upscale with perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a driver’s position memory system. The available ZR2 Bison Package will add further off-road-focused components from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Chevy Safety Assist comes standard on every Colorado trim, providing forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, a rear seat reminder, and a following distance indicator. Trailering-specific blind-spot monitoring is included on the Trail Boss and above (it’s available on the WT and LT). Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view monitor are optional on all trims except the WT. Hill descent control is standard on the Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2, with underbody cameras available for the Z71 and ZR2 to improve off-road visibility.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Every Colorado has an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that brings together navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and access to Google built-in apps, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and OnStar services. The standard audio system is a six-speaker setup, while a seven-speaker Bose arrangement is available on the Z71 and ZR2. All 2026 Colorados come standard with a six-speaker sound system that can be upgraded to a Bose unit with seven speakers in the Z71 and ZR2.
