2026 Chevrolet
Equinox

The 2026 Equinox builds on the fourth-generation redesign that was introduced last year. This popular compact crossover now has a drive mode selector to all trims, expanding a feature previously limited to all-wheel-drive editions. The truck-influenced design continues with geometric wheel wells, chiseled body panels, and other rugged styling. Chevy has also added a crisp new color option, Polar White, to the Equinox’s palette.

Inside, the Equinox’s cabin offers an inviting setting for five passengers. The dashboard incorporates advanced cockpit and infotainment displays, while both rows provide generous legroom. Meanwhile, a tall greenhouse lets in a lot of light and supplies ample headroom. Yet comfort doesn’t compromise versatility in this model, with up to 63.5 cubic feet of cargo space (among the best in its class).

Trims and Powertrain

The 2026 Equinox comes in three trims: LT, ACTIV, and RS. All of them have a 175-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the optional all-wheel drivetrain gets an eight-speed automatic. Towing capacity ranges from 800 pounds (FWD) to 1,500 pounds (AWD). The Equinox has 29.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet behind the front seats.

Fuel economy ratings for the 2026 Equinox weren’t available at the time of this writing, but we expect they’re similar or identical to last model year’s figures. The 2025 Equinox was EPA-rated to return 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway (FWD) and 24 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the open road (AWD).

The RS is equipped similarly to ACTIV but with Evotex upholstery, a wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, unique design accents, and 19-inch wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

That list consists of forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking with intersection support, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, side bicyclist alert, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, GM’s Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat will vibrate during certain safety warnings), rear parking sensors, a following distance indicator, a rear seat reminder, and automatic high beams. Teen Driver is also included, enabling parents to set vehicle operating limitations and review driving performance. All trims get a set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor and are eligible for these options: a surround-view monitor, rear pedestrian alert, traffic sign recognition, and a digital rearview mirror.
