Trims and Powertrain
The 2026 Equinox comes in three trims: LT, ACTIV, and RS. All of them have a 175-horsepower turbocharged
1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) is paired with a continuously
variable transmission (CVT), while the optional all-wheel drivetrain gets an eight-speed automatic.
Towing capacity ranges from 800 pounds (FWD) to 1,500 pounds (AWD). The Equinox has 29.8 cubic feet
behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet behind the front seats.
Fuel economy ratings for the
2026 Equinox weren’t available at the time of this writing, but we expect they’re similar or identical
to last model year’s figures. The 2025 Equinox was EPA-rated to return 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on
the highway (FWD) and 24 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the open road (AWD).
