Trims and Powertrain
The 2026 Canyon is offered in four trims: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X. The powertrain couples a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder TurboMax engine (output: 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque) to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Elevation comes with rear-wheel drive (RWD), but is eligible for the 4-wheel drivetrain (4WD) that the other trims get by default. The RWD Elevation leads the lineup in fuel economy, racking up an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The 4WD Elevation, AT4, and Denali all return 17 mpg city/21 mpg highway, while the AT4X drops to 17 mpg for both city and highway. The drive mode selector gives the operator settings for Normal, Terrain, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul, joined by the trim-exclusive Baja mode on the AT4X. The Canyon’s configuration pairs a four-door crew cab with a 61.7-inch bed, mounted atop a fully boxed frame.
The 4WD Elevation gets a single-speed Autotrac transfer case with push-button controls, while the higher trims are outfitted with a two-speed transfer case. An automatic-locking rear differential is standard on all trims and drivetrains, as is off-road suspension with a 2-inch factory lift. The Elevation and AT4 stand 9.6 inches off the ground, while the Denali moves up to 10.5 inches. The AT4X has front and rear driver-selectable full-locking differentials and boasts 10.7 inches of ground clearance, thanks to a 3-inch lift and DSSV Multimatic suspension dampers. The Canyon’s towing limit is 7,700 pounds, and every trim comes with Hitch View, Hitch Guidance, GM’s In-Vehicle Trailering App, and an integrated trailer brake controller.
