Hummer EV SUV

The bold and brash GMC Hummer EV SUV has been given a significant enhancement for model year 2026: King Crab mode. This upgrade enables the rear-steering system to turn more aggressively than the front steering to boost low-speed maneuverability on tight trails and around obstacles. Not only is the feature standard on all 2026 Hummer EV SUV trims, but prior-year editions will receive this improvement via an over-the-air update. GMC engineers then went to work on the suspension, revising the damper turning for increased ride comfort.

The 2026 model year also marks the debut of bidirectional charging for the Hummer EV SUV, enabling vehicle-to-vehicle charging and vehicle-to-home power support (with proper hardware). One carryover from last year is the impressive Watts to Freedom feature that readies the powertrain and chassis for peak acceleration, enabling the 3X trim to hit the zero-to-60 mph benchmark in a hyper-rapid 3.5 seconds. Beyond the technical changes, the limited-production Carbon Fiber Edition package with unique style elements is available for the top-tier 3X trim.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV comes in 2X and 3X trims. The 2X uses a dual-motor AWD layout (one drive unit per axle) rated at a GM-estimated 570 combined horsepower and 7,400 lb.-ft. of torque. The 3X adds a second rear motor for a GM-estimated 830 total horsepower and 11,500 lb.-ft. of torque. The range as estimated by the EPA is 315 miles for the 2X and 312 miles for the 3X. At 300 kW, Level 3/DC fast charging can add 100 miles of range in approximately 12 minutes, with Level 2 charging yielding about 30 miles per hour of plug-in time. The Tesla Supercharger network can be accessed by using an approved adapter. The maximum towing weight is up to 7,500 pounds with the proper equipment. As far as cargo capacity, there’s 35.9 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 81.8 cu ft with it folded down; the front trunk holds 11.3 cu. ft.
